Grettirs Pool

About the place
Grettislaug is a pair of stone-lined geothermal pools on the coast at the Reykir farm in Skagafjörður, set just above the tideline, with the flat island of Drangey across the water. The name comes from Grettir the Strong, the outlaw of Grettis saga, who is said to have swum ashore here after his fire failed on Drangey. It sits on private land, so a modest fee is charged at the farm café. Facilities are basic: changing cabins, toilets and a campsite, no spa polish.
