Holmanes Nature Reserve

About the place
Hólmanes is a low green headland reaching between the fjords of Reyðarfjörður and Eskifjörður in East Iceland, protected as a nature reserve since 1973. Easy trails from the roadside car park thread past weathered rock, eider-duck nests and busy seabird ledges down to a small stony beach. Above it all rises Hólmatindur, the 985-metre peak that Eskifjörður counts as its own.
