Therribjorg Sea Cliffs

About the place
Therribjorg Sea Cliffs rise above the Heradsflói bay in East Iceland. The cliffs display striking geological contrasts, with dark basalt abruptly meeting light golden-rhyolite rock. At the base lies a wild beach of coarse pebbles and driftwood carried by northern currents. Access requires a long hike or a 4x4 journey, but the panoramic ocean view and colored cliff walls make it worthwhile. White-tailed eagles can often be seen soaring above the cliffs.
