Búlandstindur

Búlandstindur

About the place

Búlandstindur rises from the shore between the fjords Berufjörður and Hamarsfjörður, giving the small town of Djúpivogur its skyline. The symmetrical pyramid, built from layers of ancient basalt, stands 1,069 m high — a local emblem and a magnet for photographers. Tradition holds it is a place of natural energy where wishes at the summer solstice come true. Fit walkers climb it along the Búlandsá river, but there is no marked trail.
