Auðunn's Stone & Mineral Collection

About the place
Auðunn Baldursson spent about thirty years combing the shores and hills around Djúpivogur for stones, and in 2009 he opened his haul in the town's old bank. The rooms are full of Icelandic agate, quartz, zeolite and crystal, much of it sawn in half and polished so the banding shows. One piece is the largest stone of its kind found in Iceland — a personal museum in east Iceland, not a slick visitor centre.
