Landsendi Trailhead

Landsendi Trailhead

About the place

Landsendi — 'the end of the land' — is a remote trailhead on the far northeast coast of the Egilsstaðir region, in East Iceland. A nearly level path runs across grassy flats and shoreline to the rock of Ker and the Landsendahorn cliff, beneath the Móvíkurflug rhyolite walls that rise 200–300 metres above the sea. It is wild, bird-rich and rarely walked. Reaching the path means fording a river on foot, which keeps the crowds away.
