Selardalslaug Thermal Bath

Selardalslaug Thermal Bath

About the place

Selardalslaug is a secluded geothermal bath located in the deep Selau river valley in eastern Iceland. The pool sits just a few meters from the rushing salmon river, offering a serene and authentic experience. The landscape features endless green hills, a rocky riverbed, and no trees, creating a minimalist, otherworldly scene. The only man-made structure is the modest white bathhouse set amid the wild emptiness. Hot water flows from a source higher up the slope, and birds nest in the cliffs above; occasionally, salmon can be seen jumping in the rapids from the warmth of the pool.
