Pico Grande Viewpoint

The Pico Grande viewpoint is located in the central mountainous region of Madeira, between the peaks of Pico do Arieiro and Pico Ruivo. The summit reaches an altitude of about 1,654 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the island’s mountain range, the Curral das Freiras valley, and the Atlantic Ocean in the distance. The hike to the top is popular among experienced hikers — the route passes through steep slopes, rocky sections, and forest trails. It is one of the best places on Madeira to watch the sunrise, take photos, and enjoy the island’s wild nature.
