Stafnes Lighthouse

About the place
Stafnes Lighthouse is a square yellow concrete tower about 8 meters tall. It stands amidst the dramatic landscapes of Reykjanes: black basalt shores, powerful Atlantic waves, and endless lava fields covered with gray moss. The lighthouse was built following the 1923 shipwreck of Jon Forseti, emphasizing the danger of this coast. Nearby, remnants of old fishing huts can be seen, adding historical context to the site. On clear days, the view extends to Snæfellsjökull volcano across Faxaflói Bay, offering spectacular vistas.
