Storikarl Sea Stack

About the place
Storikarl, meaning Big Old Man, is a powerful stone pillar separated from the mainland cliffs. It stands at the base of the Skoruvikurbjarg sea cliffs on the remote Langanes Peninsula. The rock is densely covered with nesting gannets and other seabirds during the breeding season. The surrounding cliffs are among the wildest coastal landscapes in Iceland. A specially built viewing platform with a glass floor extends over the abyss. It offers a unique feeling of floating above the vast Atlantic Ocean.
