Lake Mývatn Panoramic Point

This is the no-climb overlook of Lake Mývatn: a signed pull-off on Route 848, the road that circles the lake, set where the land rises just enough to reveal the whole basin at once. You look out over the flat water, its scatter of low green islands and the pseudocraters ranged along the southern shore, with volcanic hills beyond. It is the spot for anyone who wants the classic Mývatn view without the walk, and an easy first or last stop on the loop.
