Hofdi

About the place
Hofdi peninsula is a green peninsula on the eastern shore of Lake Myvatn. It was originally a barren rock before extensive planting of birch and spruce created a unique microclimate. The peninsula features the Kalfastrandarvogar lava formations rising directly from the water. From the southern tip, panoramic views open over coastal boulder fields and numerous islands. Hofdi peninsula provides a habitat for rare species of ducks among the islands and along the shore.
