Digranes Lighthouse

Digranes Lighthouse

About the place

Digranes Lighthouse stands on a remote, rocky shore overlooking the cold waters of the Greenland Sea. The surrounding landscape is rugged, with rocky outcrops and Arctic tundra turning vivid red in autumn. The lighthouse is 14 meters tall and resembles a small futuristic fortress. It was designed by engineer Axel Sveinsson and is a prime example of mid-20th century Icelandic lighthouse architecture. The journey to the lighthouse takes visitors through isolated fjords, offering solitude and dramatic scenery.
