Svalvogaviti Lighthouse
About the place
Svalvogaviti is a squat concrete tower on the rocks at the end of the Svalvogar headland, near Þingeyri in the Westfjords. The lighthouse itself is modest. The reason to come is the way in: a single-lane road cut into the sea cliffs, passable only by 4×4 and only in summer, ending at a beacon right on the Atlantic's edge.
