About the place
The museum stands by the water in Borgarnes, the town at the centre of Egil's Saga. One exhibition covers the settlement of Iceland by Norse and Celtic families. The other follows Egill Skallagrímsson, the warrior-poet who farmed in this district. Both run on staged scenes and an audio guide rather than glass cases, so no background in the sagas is needed. A restaurant and café in the building make it a reliable stop on the way west.
