Mount Þorbjörn
About the place
Þorbjörn (formally Þorbjarnarfell) is a free-standing hyaloclastite hill that backs the town of Grindavík on the Reykjanes peninsula. An obvious trail climbs its 243 metres in about an hour — a big view for a small climb: the Blue Lagoon's milky pools directly below and the black lava fields of the 2020s eruptions beyond. A cleft near the summit, Þjófagjá ("Thieves' Rift"), is said to have hidden a band of robbers.
