Tvísöngur Sound Sculpture

Tvísöngur Sound Sculpture

About the place

Tvísöngur is a sound sculpture on the mountainside above Seyðisfjörður, in Iceland's Eastfjords. German artist Lukas Kühne set five linked concrete domes into the grassy slope, each a different size and tuned to one tone of tvísöngur, the old Icelandic twin-song harmony. Step under a dome and hum or sing, and it throws your voice back amplified. A short, steep gravel climb from the car park brings you up, with the fjord spread out below.
