Technical Museum of East Iceland

The Technical Museum of East Iceland fills early-industrial buildings on the Seyðisfjörður waterfront and tells how technology reached this small trading town. The first telegraph cable linking Iceland to the outside world came ashore here in 1906, alongside machine workshops, printing and engines. In December 2020 the largest landslide to strike an inhabited part of modern Iceland destroyed two of its buildings and damaged the collection. Part has since reopened, with a Landslide exhibition and a telegraph key for tapping out Morse.
