Vatnsdalsholar View Point

About the place
Vatnsdalshólar is a field of hundreds of green, cone-shaped hillocks across the mouth of Vatnsdalur in northwest Iceland. There are so many that local tradition counts them among the country's three 'uncountable' wonders, with the islands of Breiðafjörður and the lakes of Arnarvatnsheiði. Geologists read them as debris from a giant prehistoric landslide off the mountain Vatnsdalsfjall. From the marked viewpoint, a short climb reaches a bench with the whole hummocky landscape below.
