Ketubjorg Cliffs

Ketubjörg is a line of sea cliffs on the west coast of the Skagi peninsula in north Iceland, just over 120 metres high, where the sea-eroded stump of an ice-age volcano meets the Atlantic. The rock is columnar basalt, cut by the waves into freestanding pillars — the tallest is Kerling, the 'old woman' — around a deep cleft that folklore made a parliament of trolls. It is a protected seabird cliff, loud in summer, and one of the quietest big-view stops in the north.
