Akureyri Art Museum

About the place

Founded in 1993, Akureyri Art Museum occupies a former dairy in Listagilið, the narrow art lane below the church in central Akureyri. The building is a well-regarded example of Bauhaus design, and its old production halls now hold changing exhibitions of contemporary Icelandic and international art across several floors. There is no permanent collection — shows rotate through the year — so it is worth checking what is on before you go. Under-18s enter free.
