Beluga Whale Sanctuary

About the place
The Beluga Whale Sanctuary stretches along Klettsvík Bay on the Westman Islands, where cliffs protect the area from North Atlantic storms. The shoreline features wild coastal boulder fields, creating a rugged natural border. This refuge provides a safe space for the whales to experience a habitat much closer to the wild. Highlighting the diverse local wildlife, thousands of puffins nest on the nearby ridges. Visitors can observe the belugas in this naturalistic environment, fully immersed in the dramatic surrounding landscape.
