Bergarfoss Waterfall

Bergárfoss falls in a broad curtain over dark rock in Víðidalur, one of the quiet river valleys behind Iceland's north coast. Getting there is half the appeal: a gravel track, a farm gate you open and close yourself, then about a kilometre on foot along the Víðidalsá. Map apps route drivers across private farmland; the real way follows the Hrappsstaðavegur past Hrappsstaðir farm, near the better-known Kolugljúfur canyon. Bring a proper 4x4 and time, and the falls are often yours alone.
