Blafjallafoss Waterfall

Bláfjallafoss is one of Iceland's more unusual waterfalls to reach: you drive across the top of it. It sits on the Bláfjallakvísl river below Öldufell mountain, where the F232 highland track fords the stream. Low and wide rather than tall, it lets you walk right up and see it from every side, just before the water gathers and drops into a green canyon downstream. It works best as the highlight of a long drive through these remote mountains in summer.
