Brimketill

Brimketill — the "surf kettle" — is a near-circular pool the ocean has ground into the lava edge west of Grindavík. Folklore credits the giantess Oddný, who is said to have bathed here at night; geology credits thousands of years of waves. When a swell is running, the kettle earns its name and hurls spray with every set. On a flat summer day it sits still and unremarkable — the show here runs entirely on the weather.
