Einhyrningur

About the place
The Unicorn is a low, solitary mountain in Iceland's southern highlands, named Einhyrningur for the single spike of rock at one end of its long ridge. It sits in the wide Markarfljót valley, between the Tindfjallajökull ice cap and the Emstrur route, at the edge of the Fjallabak wilderness the Laugavegur trek crosses. There is nothing here — no village, no café, no ticket booth. Getting to it takes a summer drive over rough 4x4 tracks and river fords.
