Valahnukur Peak

Valahnúkur is an isolated peak of about 460 metres in the middle of Þórsmörk in southern Iceland. Standing alone, it has an unobstructed summit view, often rated the finest in the valley. A stepped path climbs it in about 45 minutes, then drops to Langidalur on the far side. From the top the view runs full circle: Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull on a clear day, birch ridges rolling away, and the Krossá braiding across the black valley floor far below.
