Flogufoss Waterfall

About the place
Flögufoss falls in a thin white ribbon down a dark cliff at the head of Breiðdalur, one of East Iceland's broad farming valleys. The draw is the setting and the quiet. A short gravel road leaves the valley road — the rough last stretch is better walked than driven — then an easy path reaches a viewpoint framed by the Smátindar peaks. A smaller cascade crosses a rock terrace near the top, where a natural stone arch stood until it collapsed in 2023. It is never crowded.
