Fossarett Waterfall

About the place
Fossarett lies close to the road along the southern side of Hvalfjordur, making it easy to access for a brief stop. The waterfall flows through a shallow ravine shaped by volcanic activity and slow erosion over centuries. The surrounding area features basalt layers, grassy banks, and patches of moss typical of the fjord’s microclimate. A short walk from the roadside allows visitors to view the cascades from several natural vantage points. Though modest in size, Fossarett offers a calm atmosphere and a glimpse into the geology of the region.
