Fossarett Waterfall

Fossarett Waterfall

About the place

Fossárrétt puts two sights side by side: a small waterfall on the Fossá river and the hand-laid dry-stone walls of a sheep-sorting pen, which is where the name comes from. The Fossá drops off the Þingvellir side of the hills towards Hvalfjörður in a string of cascades, and this one falls almost onto the road. No one makes a special trip here, yet on the slow loop around the fjord it is the stop that turns a drive into a walk.
