Hvammsvik Hot Springs

Hvammsvik Hot Springs

About the place

Hvammsvik is a collection of eight natural geothermal pools located along the ocean shore in Hvalfjordur, western Iceland. The pools vary in temperature and some submerge completely during high tide, reemerging at low tide. The site combines raw natural beauty with carefully designed bathing areas for comfort and aesthetic appeal. Black volcanic rocks, golden seaweed, and deep blue fjord waters create a dramatic, otherworldly atmosphere. Visitors can watch seabirds nesting on small islands and occasionally see seals approaching the pools. Hvammsvik sits on the historic site of an old farm and a World War II military station.
