Sundhöllin
About the place
Sundhöll Reykjavíkur opened in 1937 as the city's first purpose-built indoor pool, designed by Guðjón Samúelsson in the same white lines as his Hallgrímskirkja up the hill. For decades it was a single 25-metre hall heated by geothermal water. A 2017 extension added an outdoor pool and hot-pots on the roof terrace. For locals it is a daily routine rather than a spa day, and visitors swim alongside them.
