Skolavordustigur Street

About the place

Skolavordustigur Street is a cultural landmark and vibrant urban space in Reykjavik. The rainbow-painted section leads the eye toward the Hallgrimskirkja Church, creating a perfect photographic perspective. The street is lined with cozy cafes, art galleries, and shops featuring Icelandic design and traditional lopapeysa sweaters. Originally painted for Pride in 2015 as a temporary initiative, the rainbow was kept due to popular support. Today, the street embodies Reykjavik’s atmosphere of creativity, openness, and freedom.
