The Icelandic Phallological Museum

About the place

What began as one man's oddball collection is now a thorough natural-history cabinet. It holds the penises and penile parts of almost every mammal on Icelandic land and in Icelandic waters, from mouse to sperm whale, catalogued with dry academic care. Folklore specimens cast in silver — a troll, an elf — stand among the real ones, and the bar on site plays the improbable premise straight. The visit is short, and people remember it for years.
