Cathedral of Christ the King

About the place
Landakotskirkja stands on a hill west of central Reykjavík and holds the seat of Iceland's Catholic diocese. State architect Guðjón Samúelsson designed it in a stripped Neo-Gothic style; the cathedral was consecrated in 1929, and he began Hallgrímskirkja soon after. Its grey concrete sets it apart from the capital's timber churches. Mass is still said in Icelandic, Polish and English.
