Saga Museum

Saga Museum

About the place

The Saga Museum sits in the Grandi harbour district of Reykjavík and retells the country's history as life-size tableaux: the first settler stepping ashore, the founding of the Alþingi, plague, witch-burnings, a monk copying the sagas. The figures are silicone, their faces modelled on real Reykjavík residents, with glass eyes and hair punched in strand by strand. The route is self-guided and takes 30–45 minutes, audio guide included.
