Thorufoss Waterfall

Þórufoss is a broad waterfall, roughly 18 metres high, on the Laxá í Kjós river, in a quiet valley about 40 kilometres northeast of Reykjavík near Þingvellir. It never draws the crowds of Iceland's famous falls, which is much of the appeal — stops are short and often solitary, and it adds easily to a Golden Circle drive. Fans know it from Game of Thrones, where it stood in for the land of the Children of the Forest. In winter it half-freezes into a wall of ice.
