Helgufoss Waterfall

Helgufoss Waterfall

About the place

Helgufoss drops into a mossy rock amphitheatre on the Kaldakvísl stream, near the top of Mosfellsdalur in Iceland's capital region. The path from the car park runs 1.3 km over a stile in the sheep fence, down a flight of stairs and past grazing Icelandic horses that often walk right up to people. Halldór Laxness lived below at Gljúfrasteinn, and his daily route is now marked as the Poet's Path.
