Hrafnabjargafoss Waterfall

About the place
Hrafnabjargafoss is a wide waterfall on the Skjálfandafljót river, high in the Icelandic interior above the Bárðardalur valley. Its better-known neighbour Aldeyjarfoss drops in a single sheet between basalt columns; Hrafnabjargafoss instead splits into several channels and spills over a dark ledge of old lava into a churning pool. Getting there means a summer-only mountain road and a 4x4, which keeps the crowds away.
