Husarfoss Waterfall

Husarfoss Waterfall

About the place

Húsárfoss is a wide, powerful waterfall on the Húsá river, where it runs down to the shore of Ófeigsfjörður in the Strandir region of the Westfjords. It sits a few kilometres before the end of the F649, one of Iceland's most remote roads, and hardly anyone makes the trip. Getting there is a rough 4x4 drive across a river ford, then a short walk to the foot of the falls. Up close it is far bigger than photos suggest, and the place is usually yours alone.
