Krossneslaug Hot Pool

About the place
Krossneslaug is one of Iceland’s most remote and mystical pools, located at the end of a dead-end road on the eastern coast of the Westfjords. The pool sits on a pebble beach, just a few meters from the roaring Atlantic waves. The surrounding landscape is quiet and stark: visitors soak in warm geothermal water while watching icebergs drift from Greenland or gazing at the wild horizon. This is an ideal alien-like landscape, where civilization ends and raw stone and water take over. The pool was built by local farmers in 1954, with hot water supplied directly from natural sources on the hill.
