Krossneslaug Hot Pool

Krossneslaug Hot Pool

About the place

A warm swimming pool and two small hot pots sit on a pebble beach at the end of the road on the Strandir coast, north of Norðurfjörður. Local farmers built Krossneslaug in 1954 to give their community somewhere warm to bathe, and it still works that way, with nothing between the water and the open Atlantic. Reaching it means hours of rough gravel road, so the place is often nearly empty.
