Kolbeinsfjara

Kolbeinsfjara is the shore of the Kolbeinstangi peninsula at Borgarfjörður eystri, a small fishing village at the far end of east Iceland. The beach is loose boulders and bleached driftwood — much of it carried across the Arctic Ocean from the rivers of Siberia — backed by weathered rock and open to the full force of the Atlantic. Whales sometimes feed in the bay, and the old Kolbeinstangi lighthouse stands at the point.
