Laufas turf farm and museum

About the place
Laufás stands on the eastern shore of Eyjafjörður, a short drive north of Akureyri, and has been a manor and rectory since the Middle Ages. Its vicar rebuilt the turf house between 1866 and 1870 — a row of grass-roofed gables over low, timber-lined rooms, furnished richly for a well-off priest's home. A small wooden church of 1865 stands beside it, and Akureyri Museum runs the site as a museum each summer.
