Perlan
About the place
Perlan — the Pearl — stands on wooded Öskjuhlíð hill above Reykjavík. The dome rests on six tanks that store the geothermal water heating the capital. Four still do that job; the others hold an ice cave cut from Icelandic snow and a planetarium. The exhibitions cover glaciers, volcanoes, earthquakes and a life-size seabird cliff, and the rooftop deck has a 360° view of the city, the sea and the mountains.
