Rollutorfufoss Waterfall

Above the famous drop of Skógafoss, the Skógá river spills down a long chain of waterfalls that most day-trippers never see. Rollutorfufoss is one of them — modest in height, set in a green, treeless gorge. The marked Fimmvörðuháls path follows the river upstream; the walk starts with the metal staircase beside Skógafoss and keeps to the bank, fall after fall. It is a hikers' reward, not a roadside stop.
