Skalabrekkufoss Waterfall
About the place
On the "Waterfall Way" above Skógafoss, the Skógá river drops over a whole series of falls, and Skálabrekkufoss is one of them. The hiking trail climbs inland towards the Fimmvörðuháls pass, in South Iceland. There is no road to it: you take the long staircase beside Skógafoss and follow the river upstream on foot. Half-hidden in a narrow gorge, it stays far quieter than the crowded falls below.
