Skardsvik Beach

About the place
Skardsvik Beach lies at the western edge of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, surrounded by rugged volcanic landscapes. The pale golden sand meets clear turquoise water, creating one of the most striking coastal contrasts in Iceland. Basalt cliffs partially shelter the beach from wind, while the ocean remains powerful and unpredictable. Skardsvik Beach is also known for archaeological finds, including a Viking Age burial discovered nearby. Today the beach is valued for photography and quiet exploration rather than swimming.
