Klukkufoss is a waterfall on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland. It falls over columnar basalt, and from the same spot the view runs north to the coast. Getting there means a drive on a road that ordinary cars manage, followed by a walk in on foot. The columns are the reason to come. The falls draw far fewer people than the peninsula's better-known stops, and the walk is what keeps them that way.

Getting there

The approach splits in two: a drive, then a walk. Ordinary cars manage the road in, but it wants careful driving; one visitor thought a more capable car was worth having. From where the driving ends, the rest is on foot. Accounts of that walk differ — most call it short, one puts it at about 6 km. Allow for the longer version rather than the shorter one, and wear boots you can walk in.
