The waterfall is fed by the Botnsá river, which flows from the glacial river system of Langjokull. The 7.4 km return trail is demanding, featuring steep ascents and several unique natural obstacles. Key features of the hike include crossing the river via a log bridge (removed in winter) and walking through a small cave section. Due to the difficulty and terrain, hikers should wear appropriate footwear and exercise caution. Glymur provides a dramatic view of the water plummeting into the deep green canyon below.
