Svodufoss Waterfall

About the place
Svöðufoss sits a short drive from Ólafsvík on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in west Iceland. The falls drop around 10 metres over dark, geometric basalt and fan out as a broad curtain rather than a single plunge. Meltwater from the Snæfellsjökull glacier feeds them all year. A mostly flat path crosses open farmland from the car park to the viewpoint, and in clear weather the glacier stands behind the water.
