Skógar Museum

Skógar Museum began as the lifelong collecting of Þórður Tómasson, who opened it in 1949 and ran it for more than sixty years. It is really three museums in one: a folk collection of tools, boats and books; an open-air cluster of relocated turf houses, a wooden church and a schoolhouse you can walk through; and a hall of transport and technology. It stands in the valley under Eyjafjöll, right beside Skógafoss.
